Definition Kuwait supports and participates in the International Comparisons Program of the United Nations Regional ESCWA Commission, one of the largest international statistical initiatives in the world.
It aims to provide comparable measures across countries and regions for prices, GDP and it's components.
The main output of the International Comparison Program is purchasing power parities.
Purchasing power parities are used to monitor progress in achieving the Sustainable Development Goals and the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable development.
Purchasing power Parities are included in the calculation of several indicators of sustainable development goals that are used to measure and monitor progress in its eight goals, labeled 1, 2, 3, 4, 7, 8, 9 and 10.
ESCWA published “Purchasing Power Parities and Real Size for Arab Economies”, which is a comprehensive regional report covering the results of the partnership between the public and private sectors for the years “2011 to 2019 “ in English and Arabic.
The countries are Jordan, the United Arab Emirates, Bahrain, Sudan, Iraq, Oman, the State of Palestine, Qatar, Kuwait, Egypt, Morocco and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
The commitment of this group of countries enabled ESCWA to succeed in developing a fully integrated price statistics program, within which the International Comparison Program would be combined with regular work on the consumer price index to produce purchasing power parallels at an annual rate and to develop other unified price indices.
